This colorfast ink pen is used for indicating the year a queen is introduced to a hive by marking the back of the queen. Marking a queen helps you to locate her so that you can safely transfer resources to other hives. You can also confirm that she has not been replaced. When using the Queen Marking Tube, place the queen in the tube and gently confine her against the plastic screen with the sponge plunger.

This is our favorite new tool in the bee yard. It is used to mark queens when confined on the comb. Simply place over the queen and gently push the cage into the comb. Mark the thorax and release the queen.
